Run at Pandan Reservoir
Jan 2017.
Pandan Reservoir, one of the many reservoirs in Singapore. It serves the nearby industrial estate non-potable water, and a place to exercise and relax.
Located at the south-west of Singapore, nestled between industrial areas of Penjuru Road and Jalan Buroh, and residential areas of Pandan Gardens and Teban Gardens. Formed by damming the mouth of Sungei Pandan.
It is a nice place to run given the flat surface and a relatively well maintained gravel path.
Usually not crowded in the mornings. And you can definitely catch a good sunrise if you are early and the weather is good.
The run loop around the reservoir is a good 6km plus.
Be warned that the area is totally uncovered. No trees or covered shelters along the paths. So if it is about to rain, or if the weather is too hot, you may consider not running unless you are the really gung-ho runner.
The only place you would find shelter is where the main lookout platform is. Where it doubles up as the facility storage area and office – where the water sports organizations operates.
Right behind this lookout platform is where the car park is situated.
Looking out from this platform, you will see the water sports main enclosure area, as well as the industrial area over at the other side.
The main water sports enclosure area is where most of the actions happens. Of course you need to catch them at the right time. During my visits, usually early mornings, you will see an empty scene.
At the right time, you will see this place bustling with water activities. If you have not seen it happened, you can see tell tale signs by the sheer number of kayaks and canoes resting at the wee hours.
Over at the other far side, you will see resting motorized boats.
But a few enthusiasts.
And you might be monitored by water monitor lizards 🙂
And fishing jetties around the reservoir.
You might be wondering if the air quality is bad around the industrial area. I would say it was fine for my past few visits. So I would definitely go back to enjoy a run or two when I feel like it! 🙂
See you there!
